Every course now comes with 30 days of the practice tools

Starting today, Improv 101 and Complete Scale Fluency each come with 30 days of the site's practice tools, the Practice Planner included. That goes for everyone who already owns one of the courses, not only new buyers.

The courses are built around exercises, and the tools are where those exercises get practiced. Of the 129 exercises in the two courses, 123 now open straight into a tool that's already set up for them, and the planner can schedule every one of them. But the tools come with a Silver membership, so many of you who bought a course have never seen that side of the site. Thirty days is long enough to find out whether practicing this way works for you.

What's included

• the Melodic Sequence Explorer, if you own Improv 101 (Complete Scale Fluency owners already have it)
• the jam tracks that come with Silver

As a course owner, you already have the Metronome & Drone Generator, and the Tuner, the Fretboard Trainer, and the chord-naming tools are free for everyone. The trial covers the tools only. The standalone library lessons and the PDF downloads still come with a membership.

How to start

Sign in with the email you bought the course with. If you've never signed in, go to fretscience.com/sign-in and enter that email; your course will be waiting. Then open any practice tool from the Tools page. Where you'd normally see a lock, you'll see "Your course comes with 30 days of every practice tool" and a Start button.

The 30 days begin when you press Start, not when you bought the course, so you can save them for a stretch when you have time to practice. While the trial runs, the Tools page and the planner's Today screen show the date it ends.

A good first session is the lesson you're on now. The planner's Courses tab lists every exercise in your course, and a starter set puts three exercises from the first lessons on your list in one tap, already scheduled. The two-minute quick start walks through it.

When the 30 days end

Nothing is deleted. Your planner items, your sessions, and your Timing Game history stay where they are, and the tools lock again. A Silver membership, $7 a month, opens them back up. Every dollar you pay on Patreon also becomes credit toward owning a course, so if you own one course, Silver pays toward the other.

The fine print

The trial is once per person. It's for course owners who aren't on a paid Patreon tier, since Silver and up already include every tool, and it isn't available within 90 days of a Patreon payment. Owning only the 12-PDF bundle doesn't qualify. If you own a course and don't see a Start button, use the Feedback button on any page, and I'll look into it.
