Which is right for me?
Subscribe on Patreon if you want the most for the least up front, like having new lessons and a community around you, and don’t mind a membership you can cancel whenever. Buy a course if you’d rather own a specific course outright and never think about a subscription. Plenty of players start on Patreon to dig in, then buy the course they love — with flexible digital credits that mean you aren’t paying twice to do it.
Questions, answered
- Should I subscribe on Patreon or buy a course?
- Both get you the full courses — it comes down to how you like to learn. Patreon is the lowest-cost way in: a monthly membership unlocks the courses plus a growing library of extra lessons and the community, and you can cancel anytime. Buying a course is a one-time payment for lifetime access to that course — yours forever, no membership. Plenty of players subscribe first to dig in, then buy the courses they want to keep.
- Is the course experience different if I subscribe vs. buy?
- No — it’s exactly the same. Either way, you watch every lesson right here on fretscience.com, with the same video player, progress tracking, and bookmarks. And if you ever switch from a subscription to a one-time purchase (or back), nothing about your experience changes — same lessons, same place, and your progress carries over.
- If I buy a course, is it really mine for life?
- Yes. A purchase is one-time and gives you lifetime access to that course on the site — no recurring charge, and you can watch it as many times as you like.
- How does Patreon access work?
- Support Fret Science on Patreon, then come back and use “Sign in with Patreon.” Your membership tier is recognized automatically and unlocks the content it includes. If you change tiers or cancel, your access simply updates to match.
- How do digital credits work?
- Every dollar you spend on a Patreon membership becomes a credit toward owning a course for life. As soon as your Patreon payments add up to a course’s price — for example, $150 — you can pick a course to keep outright, at no extra cost. So subscribing to learn now never means paying twice to keep it later; just reach out and I’ll set it up.
- Can I watch on my phone, tablet, or TV?
- Yes. Everything runs in a web browser on any device — phone, tablet, laptop, or a TV browser — so you can practice wherever your guitar is.
- What if a course isn’t the right fit?
- Just reach out through the contact page. My goal is to help you break through on guitar — if something isn’t working for you, I want to make it right, not leave you stuck with it.
