It's counterintuitive, but playing along with a metronome doesn't improve your sense of time. This was my biggest surprise when I read Molly Gebrian's book Learn Faster, Perform Better. In this video, I share a key insight from the neuroscience of time-keeping and demonstrate practice with a metronome in a way that will get you keeping time like a great drummer.
If you're interested in learning more about Molly Gebrian's excellent book, see the PDF above.
The practice method from the video is built into the Time Trainer — a Silver-tier tool that mutes clicks at random while holding the tempo, so you can do the exercise without rigging up your own metronome.
