This was the 12th Fret Science YouTube video, released on March 2, 2024. It was my attempt to tie together all of my previous videos into a coherent mini-course. In a way, it was the first draft of what later became Improv 101. The PDF above is an overview/guide to the course, suggesting what I think is the optimal order for viewing the first 11 videos.
Here's the original video description: How do the big pieces of guitar music theory -- CAGED, 3NPS, pentatonic scales, triads, and major scale modes -- connect together to give you mastery over the fretboard? See how the Fret Science approach ties them all into one big picture that lets you see the notes under your fingers as a palette of possible sounds to draw from. If you want to learn to improvise, this is the Big Picture.
As of December 2025, this video has ~85,000 views on YouTube, making it my 11th-most-watched video.
